Designed to reduce room ambiance when recording acoustic instruments and drums, this mini Reflexion Filter has a hole for placing an end-address microphone.
Overview
The SE Electronics Instrument Reflexion Filter 2 is designed on the same principles as its bigger brother the Reflexion Filter, and optimized for SDC mics used in instrument and drum recording.
It features a small curved wall of punched aluminum, with three layers of polyester fiberboard separated with air gaps, which help reduce room ambiance and isolate the sound source.
The SE Electronics IRF2 features a hole punched through the filter to allow a SDC, SM57 or any similar size mic to be mounted through it. This is especially useful when close micing drums (to help with track separation), guitars or overhead micing to reduce room ambiance.
The SE Electronics IRF2 is ideal for use with pianos, drums, acoustic and wind instruments, whereas the RF is suited primarily for vocals and guitars. The black finish is especially useful with stage application to help the SE Electronics IRF2 blend in.
