Percussion sound module with sequencer.
Overview
The V-drums TD10 Percussion Sound Module presents drummers and drum programmers with a truly revolutionary electronic percussion environment. Using Roland's proprietary Composite Object Sound Modeling technology (COSM), V-drums TD10 users can model drum and percussion sounds with stunning realism and sonic flexibility. The TD10 enhances this capability with lightning-fast drum triggering and onboard effects processing.
Features
Ý Revolutionary COSM-based electronic percussion sound module lets drummers and programmers model drum type, drum shell material, drum depth, drum head type, drum tuning, mic type, and even mic placement on the "virtual" drum.
Ý Extremely easy to use via 6 faders, large alpha dial, icon-based programming, and backlit graphic LCD.
Ý Lightning-fast trigger response for an unbelievably natural feel with drum pads.
Ý Amazingly accurate detection of stick velocity, position, and speed, allowing for enhanced expressiveness in playing.
Ý Positional sensing allows for triggering of sounds with slightly different. timbres depending on location of drum hit.
Ý Over 600 amazing drum sounds and 50 melody instruments; 50 full drum kits with 4 assignable percussion groups.
Ý Built-in 8-track sequencer with 4-part backing band; 56-voice polyphony.
Advanced Roland effects processing provides for comprehensive reverb, EQ, compression, and ambience effects.
Ý 12 dual-trigger inputs and 8 outputs (4 stereo pairs).
Ý Table-top, rack-mounted or drum-mounted… read more operation possible.
Ý Fully compatible with current Roland Compact Drum System pads (PD-7/PD-9) as well as new PD-100 and PD-120 "V-pads."

"Amateur welcome/pro stay away"
Disappointing. The td-10 is 8 years old. I cannot believe that they did not come out with much better yet. I've heard that they will present a new system at the NAMM show 2004. Hope to be finally convinced
Sound
It sounds a bit electronic and lake of dynamic for that matter. I had a chance to compare the sound directly with a real set. I could not use the sounds for a professional recording. I would probably scare my clients away for lake of seriousness.
Features
Not enough output. Hard to go straight to preamps, EQ's and compressors to really enhance the sound of each separate drum. Why a sequencer? Why goofy sounds that have nothing to do with drums? Why adding crappy features instead of focusing on sound quality with no compromise?
Quality
The packaging is not important if the unit does not sound right. I do not care about the looks, but I certainly care abbout the realism of the sounds.
Value
Good for amateurs Certainly not for pro recording facilities.
The Wow Factor
I wish.
