Overview
If you're looking to enter the world of synthesis, sample-triggering or MIDI sequencing using your guitar or bass, then this is your box. The GI-20 GK-MIDI Interface detects the signal from any electric guitar or bass equipped with a GK-2A or GK-2B pickup, respectively, and lets you trigger synthesizers and samplers, or even record your playing as MIDI data. And with its built-in USB MIDI port, the GI-20 is perfect for computer-based recording setups.

"Go Beyond run of the mill guitar playing - By the Roland GI-20"
I will be using this for years. I can't wait to incorporate it into our live show.
Sound
Sound here would be how well this thing tracks. I just purchased a Roland synth and tied the two together. Man! How awesome. The thing tracks amazingly well. One thing to note it that the pickup placement is critical. I had to experiment with different placements until I got one that worked. Get the pickup place right and you won't believe how cool this unit is.
Features
The ability to change patches on the synth from the guitar / pickup assembly it a great feature! I have spent the last few days programming the different patches and I am very pleased. THe ability to have different strings play different patches on my synth is awesome.
Quality
I would have rated this a 12 if the option was there. Absolutely the best piece of equipment I have ever purchased.
Value
Again, I would have rated this a 12 as well.
Manufacturer Support
Ten just because I haven't needed it. A company that can make something that supports itself is A-OK in my book...
The Wow Factor
To be able to play Pads through a synth by using my guitar is sooper sexy.
