I was looking for a low wattage head for recording in my home studio and this amp caught my eye. I bought it without ever hearing it simply because of who designed it. This amp was designed by none other than Mike Fortin, if you don't know the name, he is one of the most respected amp builders in the business so for me this was a no brainer.

Sound
The raw tone of this amp is solid but for extremely heavy rhythm tones and searing leads it needs a tube screamer in front of it. I put this amp thru the paces in the studio and found it to be very versatile. I recorded it mic'd with a Mesa Boogie 4X12 along with the cab simulated direct out, either way sounded great.

Features
I'm normally not a fan of single knob tone control but combined with the 3 position toggle switch I was suprised with all the different options in tone. The layout is nice and easy with the toggle switch, center position is a neutral setting, to the left is a mid boost for leads, and to the right is a mid cut for heavy scooped rhythm work. There is a built in load box so you don't need to plug a cab into it and just use the cam simulated direct out. This was really handy for monitoring scratch tracks and writing, just plug in and go. I also found the added effects loop to be great for other tone options, I have a collection of AMT Electronics preamp pedals that sound amazing going thru the poweramp section of the Diavlo, just plug in to the effects read more return and done. This also worked well with amp simulator plugins, they sound so much more real and warm when ran thru a real tube poweramp.

Ease of Use
This little guy is as simple as it can get.

Quality
Well built but I wouldn't expect anything less from a product that Mike Fortin designed.

Value
For the price it really can't be beat.
