Acoustic Simulator, Clean, Overdrive 1, and Overdrive 2. Footswitch included.

The AVT150 combo boasts more channels and features than any other Valvestate amplifier before. Its 4 channels are: Acoustic Simulator, Clean, Overdrive 1, and Overdrive 2. As you may expect, the Clean, Overdrive 1, and Overdrive 2 channels are identical in terms of voicing and features to those found on the AVT100. The AVT150's 4th channel is the Acoustic Simulator Channel and, as its name suggests, it transforms the sound of a standard electric guitar into that of an acoustic. The fact that all 4 channels are footswitchable means that 1 guitarist now has the flexibility to use professional quality acoustic and electric sounds in the same song, without having to change guitars or amps!

As with the AVT100 onboard DFX are present, but on the AVT150 there are 2 separate, 16 program DFX Sections - 1 for the Acoustic/Clean channels and the other for Overdrive 1 and Overdrive 2. To add even further to the amp's flexibility, both DFX Sections are footswitchable on/off.

The purpose-built AVT112 extension speaker cabinet will increase the spread of sound and the bass response of the AVT150 even further. Its 100-watt, 8 Ohm, 12 in. speaker perfectly complements the combo.

What is AVT
In Marshall's quest to give players the ultimate tone at a realistic price, they have combined the latest innovations in valve, solid state, and digital technologies to achieve optimum sonic performance. AVT has evolved from their original, critically acclaimed Marshall Valvestate technology, but is vastly read more improved so it emulates the tone, feel, and response of their world-renowned, all-valve amplifiers with unerring accuracyáwithout using valves in the power stage.

Marshall's long history and experience in the field of valve amplification was utilized in the development of the new AVT power amp. This extremely responsive and warm sounding circuitry was then coupled with the specially voiced, ECC83 (a.k.a 12AX7) valve-driven pre-amp section, to provide 100% valve/analog warmth from input to output. Combined with numerous user-friendly features, they believe we've created the best value-for-money range of Marshall amplifiers ever!

Valve Drive Pre-Amp
From the compact AVT20, right up to the thunderous roar of the feature packed, 4-channel AVT150H, each model in their brand new AVT line boasts a pre-amp stage that is driven by an ECC83 Dual Triode valve. Unlike certain other hybrid amps out there, this valve isn't merely acting as a pilot light. Instead it is playing the central role in the gain, distortion and tone generating circuitry. They have gone to great lengths to ensure that this precious device delivers maximum sonic benefit at all settings and volume levels. The resulting clean sounds ring with the bell-like harmonics that only a valve pre-amp can deliver and the break-up is never harsh or unnatural sounding. Whenever you select an AVT Overdrive channel, the ECC83 is saturated to its limit, providing dynamics and feel worthy of a place in the Marshall hall of fame.

Power Amp Delivery
The same, unrivalled design expertise that went into the pre-amp was also channeled into the design of the AVT power stage. Using frequency dependent power amp damping and their proprietary, dynamic clip level technology (which emulates the HT supply of a valve power amp), each AVT power stage creates the warm, musical feel and 3-dimensional sounds that made Marshall's all-valve power amps world-renowned. Also, all AVT products will deliver the goods in the often hostile and unpredictable environment of the live performance stage - which is why the AVT power amps of 50 watts and up are fan cooled for optimum reliability.

DFX Onboard
The AVT100, AVT150, AVT150H, and AVT275 all have on-board DFX (Digital Effects). Here the greatest care was taken to ensure that the highest level of signal integrity was maintained at all times. They achieved this by successfully integrating DFX into the tonal topology of AVT without adding any of the nasty-sounding, artificial "grain" often associated with DFX. To make the 16 custom-voiced DFX as controllable and user-friendly as possible, the relevant models are all supplied with an LED equipped foot controller which allows you to switch the amp's DFX on and off, as well as change channels.

The flexibility of the AVT150, AVT150H, and AVT275 is further enhanced by having 2 DFX sections, 1 for the Clean and Acoustic Simulator channels, and the other for the 2 Overdrive channels.

Extended Response Loudspeakers
Knowing the importance of the relationship between power amplifiers and loudspeakers, Marshall have worked extremely closely with Celestion to develop a range of speakers that will re-define the cutting edge in rock guitar reproduction. These speakers allow the compact, closed-back cabinets used in the Valvestate 2000 AVT range to maintain the bottom end delivery normally associated only with a full 4x12 extension cabinet set-up.

Marshall AVT150 Amp Customer Review

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I'm using it for 1,5 years now, and I haven't been looking at any other amp since. And I know there's a Steve Vai signature amp and a Joe Satriani amp, but I love my Marshall and it fits my music perfectly.
Sound
I play a lot of styles: Satriani and Vai, Metallica, Cradle of Filth, Blues and I can get a good tone for each style. I don't use effects (except for a wah), I got rid of my Digitech RP2000 because this amp provides all the tones I need.
Features
I can't think of anything I'm missing on this amp. If I have to mention 1 thing to add: a headphone out on the front would be handy.
Quality
I received mine in perfect state and it has served me flawlessly for 1,5 years now. I don't use it on the road, but I expect it's made fot it like my other Marshall. I believe this amp will last ages.
Value
You get 2 excellent distortion channels, plus a very warm clean channel. Also, the acoustic channel is useful now and then and the footswitch is versatile and built as a rock. Ah.. I almost forget the FX! Useful too though somewhat limited.
The Wow Factor
If you like Marshall amps, you'll love it.
