"Martin DM: An Exceptional Guitar For The Money"
I expect to be satisfied with this guitar for the rest of my life. Will I replace it? Not likely. Will I supplement it? Yeah, that's kind of my way. I have a "few" guitars, but if something were to happen to this one, I'd definitely try to find another DM with which to replace it.
Sound
One of the best sounding guitars I've owned in over 50 years of playing. Very well-balanced. Haven't recorded with it yet, but I expect it to perform well. Excellent projection.
Features
I've played classical guitar for years. I'm not only used to, but I prefer the lack of ornamentation that is the norm for classicals. I have two Tacomas that are similar in appearance to the Martin DM and love the understated, simple beauty of these guitars. The materials used are top quality.
Ease of Use
It's a Martin. Great set-up from the factory. I like a guitar with an action that's kind of high, so Martin's factory set-up works well for me.
Quality
Again, it's a Martin.
Value
Definitely worth its typical selling price.
Manufacturer Support
I'll rate support as a "10," not because I've ever had to use Martin's support (I haven't) but because friends of mine who have have found them to be reasonable to deal with.
The Wow Factor
As I said earlier, the understated, simple beauty of this guitar is one of its big draws for me as far as appearance goes. I'm more about sound than cosmetics and this guitar delivers the sound.
Musical Background:
Pro. Playing over 50 years.
Musical Style:
Folk, blues, Americana, Old Time, Mountain
