Overview

The Martin D-16 is part of the well-established and innovative solid wood 16-Series, originally conceived and developed as an experiment to deliver better sound at a lower cost by using a special combination of our proprietary bracing systems. The D-16, with its Hybrid X-bracing has now become a longtime Martin favorite. Other features include a solid Sitka Spruce top, solid Sapele back and sides and a patented neck mortise. Enhanced visual appointments common on some 16-Series models are usually found on much higher priced guitars.

"D-16 is really a 'Standard' Martin"

Sound

I have compared this to friend's D-18 and D-35 and find that the D-16 has more dynamics & volume straight out of the box. Mine is only 1.5 years old but is opening already. Not as much dynamics as my son's '65 0-18 but on it's way. Can't wait til it's really maturing. Great guitar. I feel lucky to get a full D-16 before they were discontinued :)
