Seen on the world's largest stages, the 55-02 has an active punch that will drive your sound clearly through any mix, with 'best in class' tone for a versatile and refined fit for any playing situation.

The LH3 pickups (wound in our shop in Chicago) and onboard preamp are the same components you'll find in our legendary USA Series 55-94. Powered by a single 9-volt battery that can be changed by removing a simple snap-on battery cover - no screws to lose! Internal dip switches let you select the midrange boost/cut frequency.

The neck is the same 35" scale, profile and spec as our USA series 55-94 which has won over legions of professionals because of its great feel, string spacing and most importantly, a B string with tight punchy clarity that lives with the other 4 strings in perfect harmony.

I have had this bass a couple of weeks now and have had time to play it some. First of all, this bass looks even better in person. Next, when the bass was delivered, it needed lots of setup. Had to raise the saddles and adjust the truss rod. The action was just way too low. Had fret buzz from one end to the other of the fret board. Now that I have raised the saddles, adjusted the truss rod, and slightly adjusted the intonation it plays great. A bass of this price should come with a hardshell case or at least a gig bag but no biggie. This bass sounds really good. It is very clear. The B string is awesome! It is a modern sounding bass. As for the weight of this bass, it's heavy. My other main bass is an Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray 5 string and it is a lot lighter than this Lakland 55-02. All things considered, I am happy with the purchase. It sounds great. It looks great. It's just a little heavier than I would like and I didn't really like the fact that it needed sooo much setup right out of the box.
