Kala Hutch Hutchinson Signature U-Bass Electric Bass
No longer available at zZounds
American bassist Hutch Hutchinson and Kala teamed up to create a killer travel-sized acoustic-electric bass that's made for the stage.
Overview
The Kala U-BASS is truly a groundbreaking short scale bass that produces the same pitches as a standard bass instrument and is tuned in traditional bass tuning, E-A-D-G. The U-BASS is strung with proprietary strings that incorporate a great bass feel with balanced tension. The U-BASS is a true pleasure to play, and the tone that these instruments produce is amazing.

Great instrument - Not a gimmick. It really sounds close to an upright. It takes a little getting used to, but not to bad and way shorter learning curve than learning to play an upright. I did change the strings immediately to ones that were recommended on many bass forums.
