I bought these for a 2nd setup based off the strength of all the positive reviews I’ve heard from YouTubers and reading about them and I have to say I’m a little disappointed with these. So basically I listen to music that can have heavy bass, and although the bass is present in these Kali 6’s… I think it can be a downside bc I think these speakers try to push the bass a little too much which causes them to blank out if played “too loud”. And I put that part in quotes bc I can remember having a $150 stereo system back in my youth that played comfortably at louder volumes than these Kali’s play around the setting they cut out.So disappointing bc they sound really good but can’t enjoy them fully without the constant worry they will blank out again. Asked around to try and find out if this is just a safety feature to keep the speakers from blowing and it seems the one recommendation that was common was to add a subwoofer which is obviously not a bad idea but kind of sucks being that these speakers are $400 the pair and can’t really enjoy them to their full potential without paring them with a sub. Also with all the reviews I’ve watched on these speakers, not once did any of them complain about having the problem of the speaker blanking out and have to wonder is this similar with other brands around this size (like the HS5’s for example). Again they sound pretty amazing as long as you don’t play music that has a medium level of bass because these monitors are a little bass heavy even though they are marketed as being neutral sounding.
