Ibanez UV71P Universe Electric Guitar, 7-String (with Case)

With the success of the JEM, Steve Vai went to Ibanez to request a 7-string version of his signature guitar. The result was a variation on the JEM called the Universe. In 1990 the Universe became the first ever production model 7-string solid body electric guitar and over the years become an iconic instrument in its own right.

As part of the Ibanez Premium series, the UV71P is a high quality instrument created for the working pro. This latest version of the Universe features an American Basswood body finished in high-gloss White and a Wizard-7 neck with Rosewood fingerboard fitted with Jumbo frets finished given the Premium Fret Edge Treatment for smooth, comfortable performance.

The Edge Zero II-7 bridge features a lower profile design for comfort, and superior tuning stability.

Electronics include two DiMarzio Blaze Humbucker pickups (one at the neck, one in the bridge) and a DiMarzio Blaze single coil pickup in the middle position. These pickups are made by DiMarzio specifically for Universe guitars and are designed to reproduce more harmonic overtones than conventional humbuckers.
