Overview
For 14 years the RG has reigned supreme as the king of heavy rock guitars, despite the constant revolutions in music that deposed less powerful pretenders to the thrown. Why Because when you want pickups that cut through the room, the RG rules. When you need a neck that's thin, flat, and fast, the RG rules. When you desire a lightweight body with sexy, comfortable contours and cutaways, the RG rules. But when it's time to play, you rule.

I'm already looking for another guitar. I plan to keep my RG FM and I know I'll never get rid of my 1990 RG 550. It's still the best guitar I've ever played.
Sound
I bought the RGT FM a couple of years ago. It has a great sound. I really like the pickups.
Features
I still have the first Ibanez (RG 550) I purchased in 1990. It's a great guitar. My favorite to this day. The RG FM has an Ibanez tremolo on it and I don't like it as well as the Licensed Floyd Rose on my old Ibanez. It would be nice if Ibanez would put back on the good tremolos. The edge stays in tune faily well but does not hold a candle to the FLOYD ROSE on my RG 550. Other than that I'd say I'm happy with the features.
Ease of Use
This thing came out of the box set up nicely. I only made an adjustment on the tremolo because I like it to sit parallel with the body's face. Not too low or too high. Just right in line. Other than that this guitar was ready to be played.
Quality
I love the body on this guitar and the neck is really smooth and fast. However the electronics on the volume knob are obviously cheap. Whenever I use the volume it's puts off static and sometimes the sound drops out. I have to move it around to get it clear. Also the tone selector switch puts off static when being swithced (always a trait on Ibanez) at least the ones I've played.

I've always loved the way a high end Ibanez RG series plays. Great quality necks and sound. They will take a beating and stay in tune after everything from Van Halen style temolo dive bombs to blues style bending. I just wish they would put the same quality into their knobs and selectors.
Manufacturer Support
I have contacted Ibanez in the past and they were very friendly and helpful to me. They sent me what I needed for free.
The Wow Factor
Cool looking guitar. The Flame Maple finish on mine is awe-some and the body and neck design command attention.
