Ibanez JD9 Jet Driver Distortion Pedal

No longer available at zZounds
Keep it simple with this distortion pedal. It delivers the sound of a handcrafted effects pedal with the crunch of a tube amp.

For the Ibanez JD9 Jet Driver sometimes it's best to keep it simple. Which is why, in a world of dizzying often over-complex technology, the durable, dependable, and simple stompbox continues to be the most widely used and effective means to expand, color, distort, mutate, sustain, and twist tone.

Nothing's perfect. I'm ALWAYS looking for something new. Best OD I've found for beefing up my medium OD tone on my little Laney.

Sound
I'm really picky about my OD pedals, and I really like this one. I was looking for something to beef up the rhythm drive tone on my Laney LC15 combo, without going over the top. I wanted something I could leave on all of the time and work with my volume control as needed, using my amp set up as mildly over driven to begin with. I dd not want it to impact my basic tone. This pedal excels at that. The additional mid control is a godsend. With it dialed all the way back and the tone control on the pedal rolled back just a hair, I can get nearly my exact existing amp and guitar sound, just with a bit more grit and sustain.

Features
I don't think I'd add anything to this pedal. I guess "maybe" a bass control, but the bass seems to be pretty much unaffected which is fine by me, That mid control is REALLY handy. It enabled me to dial out the infamous tube screamer hump. Having said that, if you crank it back up, the mids sing on this puppy. Great for leads, but I keep it at a min for my rhythm tone. I could see adding a second one to my setup for leads. It is a very versatile pedal.

Ease of Use
No brainer. If you've ever dialed in an OD pedal, you'll be able to dial in this one.

Quality
Seems rock solid. Does have read more the pop that everyone mentions, but this is a non issue to me. I have several other true bypass pedals that do the same thing.

Value
It's EASILY worth every cent when compared to other offerings

Manufacturer Support
They get the benefit of the doubt, but I haven't needed any support really.

The Wow Factor
This is a real sleeper pedal. You could throw a Maxon label on it and charge twice as much and no one would bat an eye. Thank you Ibanez for finally making an OD pedal that even I like. Great job.
