Overview
The short-scale Hofner Ignition Series Violin bass is based on Hofner's iconic 1906 Violin bass. Hofner is synonymous with high-quality, and these German-made guitars and basses have helped to shape the history of modern music. This updated version provides the unmistakable tone and style that helped define the British (Beatles) Invasion. The tonewoods produce a warm, resonant sound and its semi-acoustic, Hollowbody construction, compact body shape, set neck, and two humbucking pickups - have remained unchanged since the Ignition Series was first introduced.

So I had to replace an old Hofner Icon Series I had for 15yrs, always felt like a toy, no zero fret, but still worked for me. This Ignition Series is highly impressive, feels like an actual instrument, well built, zero fret (very important). Standard spruce top, maple back, sides and neck. Rosewood fretboard, ebony bridge. Neck came sufficiently tensioned, no bows or twists. Took virtually no time to set up, Very low action without buzzing. Sounds wonderful. If you're looking for a solidly made Hofner at a great price point this should fit the bill.
