Genelec Bi-Amplified Monitoring Systems
Genelec Bi-Amplified Monitoring Systems are compact active monitors with performance equal to much larger systems. They contain inbuilt electronic crossovers, overload protection, and power amplifiers. They are ideal for near field monitoring, broadcast and TV control rooms, mobile vans, home studios, and traveling engineers.

Genelec's unique Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW) technology provides excellent stereo imaging and frequency balance. The versatile room frequency response controls allow excellent room response tailoring. The speakers may be used in vertical or horizontal orientation.

Everything is built into the speaker enclosure. The only connections required are the mains supply and the line level input signal. This ensures consistent audio quality.

An increasingly popular application of the bi-amplified read more systems is surround sound reproduction. Building a full-fledged surround system with Genelec monitors is extremely simple.

Directivity Control Waveguide
The revolutionary Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW) technology greatly improves the performance of a direct radiating multi-way loudspeaker. The aim is to match the frequency response and directivity of the drivers in the loudspeaker. This results in excellent match of overall frequency response on and off axis.

DCW Features
Flat on and off-axis response for wider usable listening area

Increased direct-to-reflected sound ratio for reduced room coloration

Improved stereo imaging

Increased driver efficiency

Increased system SPL capacity

Decreased drive unit distortion

Reduced cabinet edge diffraction

Reduced distortion

The improved directivity control reduces the reflected sound at the listening position. This improves the stereo imaging and ensures very small sensitivity to varying control room acoustics, actually much smaller sensitivity than with any conventional direct radiator design.

And this is not all! The DCW technology also improves the drive unit sensitivity even up to +6 dB, and therefore increases the maximum sound pressure level as well as decreases the distortion.

"Sell your Mule and buy these Monitors."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

I expect I wont need new monitors unless i upgrade to a larger location. I'd probally just get bigger Genelecs.

Sound
Excellent Reference quiality monitors. These monitors faithfully reproduce every thing you are recording. Some people complain these monitors are not musical. That is a very subjective subject. I find these monitors to be very enjoyable to listen to. Never tiring on the ears. In conparison to Mackie HR824 I would have to say both are great monitors. Mackie does produce lower bass frequencies, however I feel the Genelecs bass is a little more accurate. If you record rap get the Mackies. For everything else you dont really need the low bass. Or get a sub. You may need to do a lot of reference checks with these monitors against a home stereo or boombox. The bass can be decieving.

Features
I bought these used, so all I got were power cords. XLR input only so for those of you with only 1/4" line out you will need to make or buy XLR to 1/4" cables.

Quality
Both speakers sound great and match perfect. The guy who had mine scratched up the cabinets really bad, but the drivers and amps were mint so i bought em. Havent had any problems.

Value
I paid $1100 which i think was too much considering these can be had used mint elsewhere for less. Oh well. They sound great. At something like $500 more for the genelecs I would probally have bought the Mackies, read more however if you can get a deal on the Genelecs go for it.

Manufacturer Support
Havent had to deal with but im assuming they are good.

The Wow Factor
Beautiful sounding monitors. Never heard better nearfields. Very practical addition to a home/semi-pro recording studio.

Musical Style:
Synth Pop.
