The Fender American Standard Stratocaster is a rock and roll classic. This version of the American Standard Strat has a Rosewood fretboard.
Overview
It's been around 60 years since the dawn of rock and roll music. Since that time, every genre of popular music has counted the Stratocaster as a defining and dominating force.
Resting on the laurels of tradition and accepted design would have been easy for Fender, considering the heritage and downright iconic status of the Strat. But rest Fender did not--the Fender American Standard series has always been about incorporating the most modern advancements in build technology with player-requested updates and features to combine for an eminently playable and lovable instrument. From top to bottom, this modern American Standard Strat is filled with undeniably useful updates.
All of the coolest updates from the previous model are still around, including the four-bolt Micro-Tilt adjustable neck with a Bi-Flex truss rod, hand-rolled edges on the Rosewood fingerboard, staggered tuning machines for tuning and intonation stability, and high-end Alnico V pickups. But there are plenty of new innovations to get excited about as well.
When hardcore Strat fans want to hot-rod their axe, they often start with the bridge. When Fender sees a trend, they analyze and adapt. This American Standard Strat is outfitted with a brand new bridge, offering bent steel saddles and elongated slots to improve string contact. In addition, the high-mass trem block is infused with copper to improve sustain and richen the resonance, beefing… read more up the snappy single coil tone. It's like Fender "pre-modded" this axe, saving you some serious aftermarket dollars!
The electronics have also been goosed a little bit, giving you even more of that signature Strat squonk. That goosin' comes from waaaay down South, in the form of Fender's Delta Tone system. If you've spent any time at all with a Strat, you're plenty familiar with losing some top-end definition when you roll back the tone or volume knobs from the middle or bridge position. If this is going to be your first Strat, you won't have to deal with that hassle at all! The Delta Tone helps smooth out the response across the entire system, so your tone will continue to cut through the mix as you make your adjustments.
The neck still has the familiar C-shape profile with a Satin finish for modern feel and effortless runs, but the updated model has a tinted treatment for more of a vintage vibe. Add the 3-ply parchment pickguard and parchment pickup covers and knobs, and you've got a nice old-school/new-school blend. The buffed Rosewood fretboard and medium jumbo frets combined with the 25.5-inch scale length and 9.5-inch radius are a first class ticket to Bend City (the grass is greener and the girls are prettier).
This new model also offers a vintage style undercoat, which is thinner than on previous American Strats. It allows the Ash (Sienna Sunburst) or Alder (everything else) body to breathe more effectively, thus improving resonance.
If Fender had just upgraded the American Standard with all these sweet innovations and left it at that, who wouldn't be happy. But Fender is not content to stop there. This Strat ships in a Fender-exclusive SKB Case, with TSA locks, glass-reinforced nylon trigger latches, and a perfectly form-fitted plush interior. Plus, can you say case candy? A Fender strap, buffing cloth, and cable all ship with the guitar. Your new Strat is strung with Fender Standard Tension Bullet Strings, gauged .009 to .042., so you're ready to rock right out of the box. There's nothing quite like an American-made Fender, and this Strat is just what its name says it is--a true Standard. read less
