Set neck. EMG 35-HZ EP pickups. Active EQ.
Overview
The Viper has become one of ESP's most popular bass body styles because it's comfortable, stands out in a crowd and a great platform for impressive bass tone. The Viper 254 is a set-neck bass with a mahogany body, a 5-piece maple/walnut neck with a rosewood fingerboard and EMG 35-HZ pickups. Its generous tone control is powered by an EMG B64 active 3-band EQ. The exposed-coil humbucking pickups, combined with the powerful EQ give you a hard driving sound that can be booming & huge, vintage & punchy, or anywhere between.
String-Thru Bass Bridge
Whether you want to increase overall string tension or just "beef up" your string attack, the string-thru option is a big plus. This bridge can be used in either "string-thru-body" or traditional "string from the top" configurations".
5-piece Maple/Walnut Neck
This neck design provides a very solid feel and an improved transfer of tone from the neck to the body. Increased neck stability and performance will man less frequent truss rod adjustments.
Double Action Truss Rods
All ESP/LTD guitars and basses feature a 'double-action' truss rod design. Unlike a normal (single) truss rod, this one is adjustable in two different directions. This means that you'll never run into a situation where the neck has 'run out of adjustment'. Regardless of which ESP model you choose, you'll get years and years of playing enjoyment.
EMG HZ Bass Pickups
Each EMG-HZ bass pickup is created for its unique sound quality and includes features from over 25 years… read more of EMG's design experience. Players all over the world agree that EMG is the leading authority in pickup technology. EMG-HZ: advancing the art of the passive pickup.
The 35HZ for 4-string bass features a dual-coil design for low noise and plenty of output. Using EMG's "CS" design (Ceramic and Steel), this pickup has the punch and fullness of older passive designs along with added brightness for a better defined tone. EMG-HZ bass models feature Solid "Bar" Poles that cover the entire width of the strings so any string layout can be used.
EMG-B64EQ
The B64 Equalizer was designed for contouring bass, mid and treble frequencies of bass guitar. It has a tight filter bandwidth giving a more pronounced effect from each control. The mid-cut of the B64 is perfect for "funk" with its mid-range centered at a lower frequency. Both Bass and Treble controls on the B64 are more selective and don't creep into the mid-range much. This control also has center detent for easy reset to "flat" response. read less
