zZounds Gear Experts Say...
The Epiphone Prophecy GX Les Paul guitar has increased upper fret access on a Speed Taper neck and the classic Les Paul look and sound.

This Epiphone Les Paul Prophecy Custom GX Electric Guitar is here! Take a good look - this is the electric guitar you've always wanted. Once you've seen it, you won't forget it. Once you've plugged it in, you'll never put it down.

There's just one problem. You can't take your eyes off it.

Trust us - that's a common reaction. As one of the most anticipated new models launched at the 2008 Winter NAMM in Anaheim, and a highlight of Epiphone's Prophecy Collection, the Les Paul Prophecy Custom GX has been designed to raise the pulse and moisten the palms of the world's most demanding players.

Plays As Good As It Looks

Like the seven other models in the Prophecy Collection, the Les Paul Prophecy Custom GX is a serious instrument with a heavyweight spec. Of course, you get the iconic Les Paul body, fashioned from top-quality mahogany, topped with a quilt maple cap, finished in rich Black Cherry, and complemented with eye-catching pearl knobs and unique 'blade' fret inlays. And naturally, you get all the admiring glances that go with it.

Then you pick the Les Paul Prophecy Custom GX up, and realize it's also the most playable guitar in the shop, thanks to the SpeedTaper mahogany neck (featuring 24 jumbo frets), the bound ebony fretboard and the combination of LockTone tune-o-matic bridge and stop tailpiece that ensure you're never messing with broken strings when you should be rocking out. All that's left to do is crank up the Gibson 'Dirty Fingers' humbuckers at the neck and read more bridge (with coil-tap) and bask in a tone that moves from clean to filthy without missing a beat. read less

I plan on keeping this guitar for many, many years. If something happens to it I will definitely get another one with no hesitation. It seems to be constructed very solid and with proper care shouldn't ever have any structural problems.
Sound
I am using this with an Ibanez MIMX amplifier and it sounds awesome. The Dirty Fingers pickups are VERY clean and can also give an excellent 80's hair band sound when needed.
Features
I usually prefer 4 pots but the push-pull works very well. The factory strings suck.
Ease of Use
This guitar has the essential onboard adjustments that are placed out of the way when playing but easily accessible when needed.
Quality
I had to return the first one I bought due to horrible fret buzzing. The second one had fret buzzing so I took it to a local guitar tech and for $100 he got it set up perfect. I am surprised about that since Epiphone usually set their guitars up better than that.
Value
I would give this a 10 if I didn't have to spend another $100 to get it playable but Zzounds price for this guitar was very competitive. As far as comparing this to other guitar's in this range, there is no comparison, I tried about 40 different guitars under $1000 and this one fit me by far the best.
Manufacturer Support
Zzounds was awesome with the return, I don't have any experience with Epiphone support.
The Wow Factor
This thing is absolutely gorgeous in real life, all pictures I have seen don't do it justice.
