A "Vintage" Les Paul

The Les Paul Classic Worn has a solid Mahogany body with a Plain Maple Cap cut to the classic profile of a late '50s Les Paul. All Epiphone Les Pauls feature a 14-degree angled headstock that provides more pressure at the nut for longer sustain and better intonation without the hang-ups caused by "string-tree" gadgets. The Mahogany neck has an easy-to-play 60s era SlimTaper C profile with a worn open grain finish that combined with the worn color finish gives the Les Paul Classic Worn an elegant look. The neck has a 24.75" scale length, 22 medium jumbo frets, an Indian Laurel fingerboard with Trapezoid inlays, and a 12" fingerboard radius. The body and fingerboard have cream binding. The ABR nut is 1.68". Epiphone's famous sloped dovewing headstock has a "bell" shaped truss rod cover and Les Paul's iconic signature in gold silkprint along with an Epiphone '60s-era slanted logo in mother of pearl.

Alnico Classic PRO Humbuckers

The Epiphone Les Paul Classic Worn Collection features two open-coil "zebra" Alnico Classic PRO humbuckers with Alnico-V magnets, which provide a slightly higher output than vintage pickups and also have enhanced mids and highs. Each pickup has a Volume and Tone control with vintage-styled Gold 'Top read more Hats" knobs plus Epiphone's all-metal 3-way pickup selector switch.

Buck the Hum!

Epiphone Alnico Classic PRO humbuckers utilize a double vacuum waxing process that ensures you quiet operation free from microphonic hum. The pickup is first placed in a specialized wax vacuuming system before the cover is placed on the unit to ensure that the wax fully penetrates to the very center of the pickup and solidifies all parts. After the cover is placed on, the pickup is given a second vacuum wax bath until the unit is completely saturated. Epiphone uses only the highest quality parts for pickups including ABS plastic bobbins, 1010 Cold Rolled Steel pole shoes and pole screws, Alnico magnets and the finest magnet wire available.

LockTone ABR Bridge and Stopbar Tailpiece

The Les Paul Classic Worn comes with Epiphone's rock solid nickel hardware including a LockTone ABR bridge and Stopbar tailpiece combo that auto-locks the bridge and tailpiece in place with no tools needed. Tuning is fast and accurate with Grover Rotomatic machine heads with "kidney" buttons with an 18:1 tuning ratio.

I ordered this late on the 7th of this month and received it on the 10(thanks zZounds). I ran the serial number through Epiphone, and it said this guitar was made in July of this year, so this guitar spent no time in storage it went from the factory to zZounds, to me in hardly any time. Now what gets me is that with the different climates from China to the deep south in the U.S. it didn't seem to affect the guitar at all except that it was slightly out of tune, the neck was perfectly set, the intonation was dead on and that never happens!!! I have never got a new guitar in my 47 plus years of playing that didn't need to be set up, but this one didn't need anything, I was amazed!!! Next, I noticed how beautiful this guitar was (well that was the 1st thing), I got the faded gold finish, and it was flawless, the fretwork was great and there were no tool marks around the fret ends where they round the ends, the screws on the back plates were drilled nice and straight (that's the 1st I've seen on Epiphones). The jack-plate was metal not plastic, not even my high-end Epiphone has a metal jack-plate. The tuners are Grover 18.1 ratio and stay in tune very well. Even all the hardware seems to be of better quality than my older Epiphones. I have owned 3 Gibson USA made guitars and they were great (I wish I still had them) but I now have 5 Epiphones and to me they can compete with Gibson, in some ways they are better and for the money they are better, and I know Gibson uses higher quality read more woods and all, but I think Gibson has finally realized that the average person can't afford the name Gibson so they are stepping up the quality of their Epiphone models so us poor average people can have quality guitars so, yeah Epiphone has really stepped up their game and I think you should get one before they step up their prices as well lol. This guitar plays like a dream and sounds amazing, I like the coil-splitting feature, it comes in handy on clean settings, I'm using humbuckers on distortion. All in all, this is a fantastic guitar, I'm going to use it as my number 1. Get'em while you can, I noticed zZounds keeps running out of them.!!!

Sound
The sound quality of this guitar is off the charts, it does everything it's suppose to do. I've seen reviews that say they don't like the coil-splitting because it doesn't have a Strat sound, well it's not supposed to sound like a Strat, if you want a Strat sound buy a Strat-style guitar, I did!!! It really screams in humbucker mode, the alnico pickups have more of a bit than my LP with PAF's which really sound amazing!!!

Features
The most useful feature of this guitar is the coil-splitting, I use it a lot on my clean channel!

Ease of Use
This is a VERY versatile guitar, because of the coil-splitting you can get a wide range of sounds from blues to jazz, clean country to heavy metal, the sky is the limit!

Quality
The guitar is extremely well made, as I said Epiphone has really stepped up their game!

Value
This guitar is worth every penny and then some!

Manufacturer Support
Every time I had to deal with Epiphone I have gone through their website and never had any issues with them, they have always been very helpful.

The Wow Factor
The finish on this guitar is what drew me to it, I have wanted a Gold-top LP for years but the faded finish is what set this guitar apart, love at first sight!!

Musical Background:
Playing 47 years. Sat in with cover bands, play at home.
