I originally had purchased an SKB “hard side” gig bag because I wanted the protection of a hard case without the added weight and the ability to wear on my shoulders as a backpack, just like my Taylor case. Well the skb hard side (does not have any hard side) was so flimsy, not much more protection then those case shape material bags with zippers, but at least with them you know what your getting. So I was hesitant to buy another “in-between” hard shell and gig bag advertised case. Until I tried out this case…This EpiLite case is absolutely amazing. All the protection of a hard case (well I wouldn’t recommend running it over with a car), without the bulky and heavy weight of one. It was exactly what I’ve been looking for. In 30 years of playing, I haven’t seen a nicer hybrid case, not even my Taylor or Gibson soft cases. This takes the award. Very similar to the Gibson one, but more sturdy and just one less small pocket on top. Interior is that same nice plush material to keep your acoustic warm and safe from scratches. I am blown away by the quality of this case. I’m ordering another one for my daughter who is a student. Although the pictures do not show it, it does in fact have nice shoulder straps, not some hard material that digs into your shoulders and back.
