I bought these to replace an older pair that we're broken from years of use. I knew EV as a company (I'm a mobile DJ), and figured they were a good company, and it was a great price. They are definitely functional, and may be perfect for you if you have a lighter weight speaker set up. I use 15" JBL unpowered 15" tops that do weigh quite a bit, but they are a very common speaker that has been on the market for years (JRX series).... but these stands can not handle them, and slide down to the emergency pin. In fact, I now just use that, and do not even bother tightening them that much. The other issue is that one broke on the 5th use in a strange way. When I went to tighten the knob for the legs, the housing the nut was in snapped off.
