zZounds Gear Experts Say...
Silent switching. High-quality jacks.
Overview
The Dunlop Uni-Vibe incorporates the original Uni-Vibe circuit design utilizing hand matched photo-resistors, a long-life incandescent lamp, and custom engineered light housing to ensure the sonic integrity of the unit. The durable brushed stainless steel housing is designed to protect the control knobs against accidental bumping during play.
Features:
Silent switching
High reliability hardware, providing low noise and extended life
High quality jacks to ensure solid connections
Classic sound and reliability
With the Uni-Vibe's renowned chorus and vibrato modes you'll find yourself playing a lot of new things from sheer inspiration. The Chorus sound is thick, phasey, and a lot like a rotating speaker while the Vibrato sound bends the pitch up and down, giving a cool quivering texture to your sound. In either mode, the speed, volume, and intensity knobs let you twist and turn your sound into a new dimension.
Note: The Uni-Vibe functions without the optional UV-1FC controller pedal with its own built-in speed control. The UV-1 comes complete with the Dunlop ECB04 AC Adapter.

"The only true Univibe sound out there!"

I have tried a number of "Univibe" clones and finally paid for the real thing. This is the sound that I was looking for all along but kept thinking I could find it in a cheaper unit. You can't! If this unit failed I would replace it.
Sound
This is an awesome pedal that exactly reproduces the Hendrix/SRV sound. If you want an authentic Univibe sound, you have to buy it! I had a Micro Vibe from Voodoo labs and it didn't come close to this sound. I use this pedal in conjuction with a TS808 modified by Keeley Electronics; a Vox 847 wah pedal; a Micro POG and a Boss Giga Delay. Don't use the Univibe with any echo or a wah pedal as that is too much modification to the signal, in my hunble opinion. Also experiment with differnet pickup selections. I find that for different speeds of the Univibe, certain pickups sound better than others. I use a Fender Stratocaster Hwy. 1 with a Fender Super Reverb Reissue.
Features
The Univibe came with the adapter as it does not work on batteries. For those who use a pedal board, be aware this is an 18 volt adapter.
Ease of Use
You need to spend time experimenting with the unit. Also, there is a button on the back that lets you chose Vintage or Modern. Vintage is a much more "brown" sound so be sure you experiment with that button as well. One of the things that you must be aware of is that it takes some time to dial in the sound that you are looking for. It… read more is very response to its controls so just a touch of the dial is going to give you a much different sound.
Quality
This thing is built like a rock and it is heavy! It will not be moving around much because it weighs about 4 pounds. The stainless steel looks really cool.
Value
For the sound I was looking for, the price was perfect. Compared to a lot of other "Univbe" type pedals, your going to pay more and not get the correct sound.
Manufacturer Support
I haven't had to contact them so who knows?
The Wow Factor
You gotta try this out. Check out youtube and listen to the examples there. The vids are pretty bad but you can hear the sound the unit makes and that is what is important.
