I've been eyeballing this bass for quite some time now and finally took the gamble on it. I mean for this price I really wasn't expecting much (not to mention lower priced deans have a bad rep) but this thing is worth every penny in my opinion. I play nothing but extreme metal, mainly grindcore, death metal, and their various sub-genres. This bass is perfect for getting a nasty high gain tone thanks to the hot soapbar right next to the bridge, which is also a nice touch since I play with a pick and there's no neck pickup to get in the way when I'm digging in the strings. The neck is very slim for a bass so it's easy to get around quickly on it. I also really appreciate the simplicity, it doesn't have any bells or whistles that would just get in the way or add extra costs. The ML body shape is extremely comfortable to play while either sitting or standing. It also came setup spot on and has barely any fret buzz even now when downtuned to C standard. The overall quality to price ratio is unbelievable. Maybe I got lucky and got a good one but it's a very nice instrument. However, this bass definitely isn't for everyone. It lacks versatility and is more or less a one trick pony, and that one trick is extreme metal. If you're planning on playing anything else this wouldn't fit the bill very well. Something with a PJ pickup configuration would be the most versatile. Overall I'm extremely satisfied with it, it's exactly what I was looking for. I'm looking forward to many jam sessions, read more gigs, and recordings with it.
