The XLS Series of power amplifiers from Crown represents a new era in affordable, quality power amplification. The line consists of three models in a uniform, rugged chassis, incorporating the best of tried-and-true design principles and innovative features. XLS Series amplifiers are professional stereo power amplifiers engineered to meet demanding audio requirements

Fault: Yellow front-panel LED illuminates when amplifier is in protect mode. Also illuminates briefly during normal power-up when amplifier is first switched on.

Input Connectors: 1 per channel; back-panel 3-pin female XLR input connectors are provided.

Input Impedance: (nominally balanced, nominally unbalanced): 20 k ohms, 10 k ohms

Output Connectors: One 4-pole Speakon(TM) connector and one pair of back-panel, 5-way binding posts per channel; accepts banana plugs, spade lugs or bare wire. (European models do not accept banana plugs.)

Protection
XLS Series amplifiers provide extensive protection and diagnostic capabilities, including output current limiting, DC protection, circuit breaker, and special thermal protection for the unit's transformers.

Cooling: Internal heat sinks with forced-air cooling for rapid, uniform heat dissipation.

We returned the amp and did not want to try getting another of the same model.
Quality
We ordered this amp and it arrived with a defect - one side of the amp was not working. We returned the amp and a replacement was sent. When the replacement amp arrived, it had the same problem....side 2 of the amp was not working. I called Crown and got the tech there to walk through the amp testing with me over the phone, he agreed the amp was defective. After receiving two in a row like this we decided not to try again and went to a different model.
Value
It would probably be a good value if the quality were there.

My contact with Crown was pleasant and they did return my calls and emails. They asisted me in conrfirming the problem and that was a positivie of the situaiton.
