Note: This is NOT a wireless system. It is a headworn microphone with belt pack.

The CM-311A offers Differoid performance in a comfortable headworn package. The CM-311A is designed to meet the most demanding touring sound applications, with its electret condenser capsule providing full, clear, and distortion-free sound. Gain-before-feedback and isolation are exceptional. Lightweight, rugged, and comfortable, the headband and mic boom are adjustable to any vocalist. CM-311A includes battery/phantom powered belt pack.

For Wired Applications
Designed for touring and live-sound applications, the Crown(R) CM-311A is a rugged head-worn microphone with unequaled performance. It sounds like the best handheld microphones -- full, clear, and distortion-free, even with the loudest singers.

The CM-311A is the latest version of the Crown's proprietary Differoid(R) technology. Its cardioid pickup pattern rejects sounds from the rear, such as floor monitors. Its noise-canceling ability rejects sounds at a distance, such as instruments on stage and crowd noise. This results in the CM-311A having outstanding gain-before-feedback and isolation.

Lightweight and comfortable, the mic's headband and boom adjust to fit any singer. An included pop filter greatly reduces breath noise and pops. Because of the boom's unique behind-the-ear design, it does not cover up the singer's face.

The CM-311A is powered by a 9V battery or phantom power. It has a battery belt pack with an on/off switch, a programmable mic on/off switch, and a Mic On LED.

To get the maximum performance out read more of this microphone, take the time to adjust it to fit correctly. For best results, the CM-311A MUST be custom fitted to a single user's head. read less

The only issue I have with this product is that I occasionally trip on the wire. Otherwise I'd have given it a 10 (am considering a wireless version).

Sound
I really can't fault the sound. It reproduces the sound of my voice perfectly as best as I can tell. What I especially like is that I can sing into it and not get those annoying pops when the words start with a P or a B, etc. And the bass is clear, not boomy or muddy, etc.

Features
I would give a 10 if it came with one or two spare foam mouthpieces, and if the microphone could be made to fit back into the case without having to loosed the adjusting screw and loosen everything up to fit the case, etc.

Ease of Use
Cons: none.

Quality
I would have given it a 10 except that the adjusting screw siezed up a few weeks after owning it. I don't use it much, and it certainly doesn't get put through a rough regimen, so I should not have had to dissasemble the adjusting mechanism in order to make it work properly again. Since then, however, it's been working fine.

Value
Considering what you generally have to spend to get a good quality microphone, I think this one offers good value for money. Naturally, I wish it were less expensive (I think almost everything is too expensive) but it does what it was advertised to do so I think it's good value.

Don't know. Haven't had to deal with that aspect yet.

The Wow Factor
Sex Appeal? Zero. It's clunky. It's definitely not one of the more streamlined headset microphones out there. But...it works, and it works very well. So I don't care that it's not....sexy?
