I own a lot of guitar ampsFender super reverb, Blues Deluxe, Hotrod deluxe III, Bassman ,Ampeq S77, Engl E101 and Behringer GX210, GX212 and GMX212I bought the GX210 in 2006 new, for $195.- together with the FCB1010 MIDI controller for $129.-I play Jazz, blues and rock and I own a fast spectrum of Gibson,Fender, Gretsch, Rickenbacker and Epiphone guitars.I am using a spectrum of clean to high gain sounds. And I found that for general use in small clubs the GX210 functions absolutely great. I get regularly compliments for my sound And when I tell that I use a $195.- solid state amp, the comment is regularly that this is the best sounding solid state amp they ever heard.Sofar this amp has been a blast and it's weight is about half of that of a Fender Blues Deluxe while just as powerfull.I decided In case I needed a backup, to buy a second one. Unfortunately the GX210 was replaced by the new GMX210. Same speakers, same poweramp, A similar but different effects processor, and a new modeling preamp, with added high gain and modelling functions. How hard I tried, I have not jet got the sounds that I like so much from the older GX210. But when I need the real high gain power it is no match for my Engl E101. despite the effects processor. What I actually like in the GMX210 is the build-in tuner, I wish that feature was build in the older GX210 , but you can't have every thing Still wanting a suitable backup for my good old GX210, A few month ago I bought the bigger brother the GX212.This read more amp has double the power with 12 inch Jensen Chicago speakers and a expanded preamp. Clean this amp sounds incredible but as soon as I use the gain channel it does not have the finesse of the little brother it sounds too much as a transistor amp,. Despite the separate tone control and the morphing filter I can not get that rough edgy transistor sound out of the distortion. This could be due to the speakers or the poweramp or a combination of these factors But it is a great amp for my Danelectro Baritone. My favorite FX presets on The GX2104 reverb, 18 Whah + FBC101, 24 stereo delay, 66 stereo tremolo with delayPro'sGreat sound , light weight and reliable Cons,The plastic shafts of the Alps pots and encoders snap off easily and it is very hard to find replacements or have it repairedIf you manage to blow up The Jensen Chicago speakers there is no way to have them factory spec reconed, they are different from the reproduction Jensen speakers.and it seems that original recone materials for these speakers is not available. I found that it is probably easier to replace the faulty speaker with the closest replacement the Jensen MOD series. PvdS I
