18 watts, all-tube Class A/B power. 2 x EL84 power tubes. Includes 1 x DS-1 docking system. Does not include template (sold seperately). Does not include Line6 Pod -- supply your own amp modeler.

The Atomic Reactor 112 is a unique tube amplifier specifically designed by legendary amp guru, Harry Kolbe, to bring to life the tones created by digital amp modeling tools with all of the organic warmth and feel our ears love to hear. Whether using a single Reactor or a stereo pair, you can now generate the versatile, authentic sounds from dozens of the most desirable amps and effects and take them live to every gig, rehearsal and jam session.

All you need is the Atomic Reactor and your amp modeler. Every Reactor 112 comes with Atomic's revolutionary, DS-01 Docking Unit. The DS-01, along with the proper template kit* (purchased separately), allows players to 'dock' their desktop digital amp modeler inside the Reactor 112 creating an all-in-one performance solution. A blank template is available for people who wish to use their Reactor with pro rack mount modelers or other choices for pre-amps, including the growing number of floorboard-based amp modeling products.

The beauty of the Atomic Reactor 112 is in its simplicity. Plug in and turn the amplifier on. No volume knob, EQ or reverb to fuss with - that's all in the modeler! Its birch-plywood cabinet is sturdy, and easy to transport.

Why Atomic
There's an endless universe of distinctive guitar tones out there, yet to own a large assortment of classic gear, keep the equipment in top shape, and transport it all from gig to gig is unrealistic for most musicians (who wants to drag around their priceless 40-year-old amp anyway?). read more Digital amp modelers have brought the most coveted tones into headphones and studios everywhere. But try to take that sound live and the results are compromised...

If you plug a modeler into a regular amp, the amp can't help but color the tone - the modeler is treated as just another effect in the chain.

Solid-state amplification is, well, solid-state - tight, compressed and sterile.

Going direct into a PA system just doesn't cut it - especially for players who rely on the responsiveness of their amps.

Fortunately, the Atomic Reactor 112 is priced within almost any guitarist's amplifier budget. The Reactor 112 will consistently deliver the best in amplifier performance while allowing the player to take control over the multitude of sonic characteristics offered by amp modelers. Once you dial up your modeled amp & effects, you will hear their true, uncolored reproduction powered with the drive and presence of a well-engineered tube amp - loud and proud.

A good amp has a long life. This one might have a longer life than most because you are not locked into one front end. When modelers advance you can change your modeler and keep your amp. The idea of 2 reactors running in stereo is intriguing. I suspect this is the last amp I will ever need.

Sound
The sound of this amp is amazing. I am constantly amazed at the presence and depth of the sound. And it can play very loud. And it maintains it's openness even at high volume levels.

Features
For me the switchable voltage feature was one of the nicest features as I live most the time in Europe. This amp will work anywhere in the world. It has feet on the bottom as well as one side, so you can stand it vertilly if you wish. That could be very helpful at times.

Quality
Finish was perfect. No observable blemishes whatsoever. The leather grained tolex coverng is quite attractive, and the cabinet seems totally solid. This amp should endure being used in gigs well.

Value
Relative to price, this is a very good deal. The Atomic Reactor is a unique product in that it is designed especially for modelers. So no direct comparisons can be made to other products. But I can't imagine where I could get this quality of sound in an amp for $500.

The close matching of the tube amp section, cabinet and custom speaker make this amp perform way beyond it's specs. In that respect, the specs are misleading: performance-wise this amp compares with much bigger and more expensive amps. If you like exquisitely designed and engineered devices, this one is superb.
