"This guitar is excellent!"
It is an excellent basic acoustic guitar with a good sound and it's easy to play.
It really is one of those guitars that makes you want to write a song.
Sound
Alvarez has a very good quality control check of fret spacing tolerences and action. I have had two of these guitars now and have used them on everything from live shows to recording (rock and roll mainly.) If you tune down a bit you can get a great big jangly sound out of this guitar. The Elixir strings that it comes with are also nice. I highly recommend this guitar and Alvarez guitars in general.
Features
It has a decent pickup but to be honest I usually mic it for the best sound. The pickup battery is a pain but you just have to loosen all the strings to get to it. It has a two band eq which does what it says and is good for removing unwanted feedback and getting the tone just right.
Ease of Use
This is a very playable guitar. One of those guitars that makes you want to write songs. It feels natural and has good proportions.
Quality
As I said I have had two of these and both have been excellent. I played one to death on tour and it was passed around for many an after show jam with the other touring bands and it stood the test of time. My new one just got to me and I have to say it is meticulous. The tuners feel nice and the neck is just the right texture - not too slick and… read more not too rough.
Value
This is one of the best value guitars I have ever seen. I suggest you go down to store and try it out in a quiet area.
Manufacturer Support
Alvarez is owned by Ampeg I believe. Regardless they have top notch support especially for touring bands.
The Wow Factor
The look is pretty basic and it is very clean. Nothing is out of place.
Musical Background:
Active touring musician
