"QSC PlX: "Light in weight, and light in the sound!""

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
Do not kid yourself. This amp kicks butt. However, it is more of a amp made for your main cabinets. Because of the tight bass features with this amp (higher damping factor), the bass lags. The best thing to do, if you are a qsc fan like me, is to mix and match. I use the plx for my mains, and the rmx 5050 for all 4 of my subs. Remember, you do not need a real high damping factor for subs. Otherwise, your punch will always lag
Ease of Use
Bass lags is all
Quality
Very light. It would take two plx's to match the weight of one rmx.
The Wow Factor
Good for main cabinets. But don't forget about its fellow rmx friend too. Then you will truly get a fuller sound

"Nice amp, but not for subs."

I wouldn't buy another PLX amp, though the one I have is fine on subs. You CAN power subs with them, but you need to EQ them pretty heavily and that reduces your headroom unless you use several, which kinda defeats the low weight thing.
Sound
Better on mids/highs than subs, just doesn't measure up soundwise to a conventional power amp for lows. Sound is distinct, but thin. I A/B'd this amp to a Crown K2 and an old Peavey CS800. Both of those amps were much more punchy and full on the low end than the PLX, which is surprising in the case of the Peavey. I moved my PLX to the mid/highs and it sounds fine in that application.
Features
Has on-board limiters, which is great. Switchable low end rolloff, lots of options. Speakon connectors plus banana jacks, very versatile. No complaints in this department.
Quality
Seems sturdy and reliable.
Value
It's cheap, compared to say, a Crown K2 or Macrotech. Then again, it can't drive subs like those two excellent amps can. You get what you pay for.
Manufacturer Support
Give it the benefit of the doubt, I haven't needed support but I hear QSC is good at that.
The Wow Factor
I wanted it until I had it for a while. Now I'm less excited about it. I wanted to replace all my conventional power amps with these little lightweight amps that draw less from the wall. Didn't work out for me on the subs so I went with K2s, which are conventional power supply but pulse modulation output for high efficiency and much better sub sound.
